BOGAN
Diana Bogan, 60, of Harrodsburg, wife of Robert Lee Bogan, died Monday,
December 22, 2008 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born November 24, 1948 in
New Mexico, she was the daughter of Leonard J. and the late Betty Hardy.
Survivors include: her
husband, Robert Lee Bogan; one son, Richard Lee Bogan of AK; one brother,
Thomas Hardy of OR.
She was predeceased by one
son, Daniel Bogan.
There will be no formal

STANLEY
BOYD
Stanley Alfred Boyd, 83, of
Frankfort, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008 at the Frankfort Regional Medical
Center in Frankfort.
Born Feb. 13, 1925 in
Junction City, he was the son of the late Alfred Boyd and Lola Phillips Boyd
Byrd and was the husband of Hilma Frances Stroud Boyd.
He was a veteran of the US
Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Danville Fire
Department, was the Fire Chief for the Harrodsburg Fire Department, the Boyle
County Fire Commissioner, the Kentucky State Fire Marshall, the President of
Kentucky Fireman’s Association, an insurance inspector for Kentucky State
Government and an instructor state wide for firefighters.
Survivors include: one
daughter, Rebecca Boyd, of Lexington; one brother, James W. Boyd of
Lawrenceburg and one half brother, C. Wayne Byrd of Harrodsburg.
He was preceded in death by
a brother, Donald Boyd.
The funeral was held on Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at the Harrod Brothers Funeral Home in Frankfort with Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Burial was at Frankfort Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael
Byrd, Wayne Byrd, Roger Pratt, Tim Troxell, Sam Carr and Barry Brown.
Honorary pallbearers were
Bruce Irvine and James W. Boyd.

Forrest Ernest Cannon, 92,
of Harrodsburg, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at the James B. Haggin Memorial
Hospital.
Born July 24, 1916 in
Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Ernest and Bertie Leonard Cannon and was
the widower of Ethel Carpenter Cannon.
He was a retired farmer and
a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one
sister, Lorraine C. Kurtz of Lexington; two step grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a
step son, Garfield Devine, three brothers, Charles, Andrew and Leo Cannon and
four sisters, Martina Nooe, Violet Meredith, Hazel Arnold and Geneva Stakelin.
The funeral is 11 a.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 31 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert DeFoor and
Kenny Queener officiating. Burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation Tuesday, Dec. 30
from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday prior to Service at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

DAVID
NEWTON
David A. Newton, 83,
Louisville, formerly of Lebanon, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 12, 1925 in
Taylor County, son of the late John Jimmy and Ann Minor Newton.
He was a World War II
veteran and a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division.
In 1952, he married Maxine
Flinchum, also from Taylor County, and moved to Lebanon where he managed a
small business before purchasing a farm where he lived and worked most of his
life.
In 1991, Newton left the
farm and moved to Louisville where he resided until his death.
Survivors include: his wife,
Maxine Flinchum Newton of Louisville; two daughters, Angela (Jim) Mattingly of Harrodsburg and Dee (Tom
Brooks) Newton of Prospect; one son, John David Newton of Louisville; three
grandchildren, Monica Mattingly Peavler (John), Hanna Mattingly (Tim) and Simon
David Mattingly; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held
Monday, Dec. 22, at the Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon. Deacon Joe Dant
officiated.
Bosley Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.

JAMES
ROBINSON
James Allen Robinson, 76, of
Lawrenceburg, died Friday, December 26, 2008, at his home after an illness.
He was born in Mercer County
to the late Wilford and Addie Durr Robinson.
He was a member of Shiloh
Christian Church; owner and operator of Robinson’s Appliances in Lawrenceburg
for over 45 years, a retired General Electric Assembly Worker for 34 years; and
a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by: his wife
of 53 years, Minnie Faye Patterson Robinson; a daughter, Regina “GiGi” Newman
and John Mark Huffman; a son, Ron Robinson and Anna Hughes, all of
Lawrenceburg; five grandchildren, James Newman, Irvine, Keisha Pruitt and
Justin Robinson, Henderson, KY, Caroline Hughes and Mikey Robinson,
Lawrenceburg.
He was preceded in death by
two sons, Ricky Allen Robinson and Michael Wayne Robinson, and a step daughter,
Diana Lynn Dickerson.
Funeral services were Monday,
December 29, at the Gash Memorial Chapel in Lawrenceburg with Bro. Kenny
Robinson officiating. Burial was in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

JEWELL
ROGERS
Jewell Mae Duncan Marple Rogers, 71, of Danville,
formerly of Mitchellsburg, died Tuesday in Danville.
Born April 9, 1937, in Casey
County, she was a daughter of the late Marvin and Ora Elizabeth Cochran Duncan.
She was the wife of Larry Rogers.
She was a door-greeter for
Wal-Mart and had worked for the Boyle County Senior Citizens, Keystone, Angel
Manufacturing and several nursing homes. She was a member of Mitchellsburg
Baptist Church. She was an avid bowler, bowling on a local league.
Jewell Mae was preceded in
death by a sister, Sue Hunter; a great-grandson, Branson Warner-Cummins; and a
stepson, Charles Rogers.
Additional survivors include: three daughters,
Deborah (Donnie) Jernigan of Harrodsburg, and Kathy (Stephen) White and Vickie
(James) Massey, both of Danville; one son, David Marple of Danville; four
sisters, Brenda Gragg and Wilma Jarrett, both of IN, Linda Badgley of McKee and
Connie Jo Click of Middleburg; two brothers, Larry and Lonnie Duncan, both of
Indiana; a stepson, James (Susan) Rogers of Cynthiana; 10 grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren; and three step
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Saturday, December 27, at the Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville by the Rev.
Randy Hawkins and Bro. Joe Smith, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael
Cummins, Alex Montgomery, Dan and Ben White, Brandon Massey, and James and
Brian Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers were
Rebecca Joyce, Amy Batton, Rachel Montgomery, Brittany Massey, Michelle Marple

LEWIS SHARP SR.
Lewis B. Sharp,
Sr., 82, a retired builder and remodeler, husband of Mary Huffman Sharp, died
on Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25 at the Hospice Care Center in
Lexington.
Born in Woodford
County, he was a son of the late Elray Sr. and Annabelle Long Sharp.
Lewis was the
former owner of Bluegrass Garage Builders in Lexington, and former owner of
Guess and Sharp Builders and Sharp Builders. He was a member of the Kingsway
Assembly of God Church, was a U. S. Navy Seabee in World War II, and was a
member of the American Legion Post #67 in Versailles.
Surviving, in
addition to his wife, include: one daughter, Doris (Larry) Chappell of
Versailles two sons, Lewis B. (Sandy) Sharp, Jr. of Nevada and Gary T. Sharp of
Harrodsburg; two sisters, Christine Blades of Versailles and Lilly Price of
Lexington; one brother, Theodore Sharp of Versailles, six grandchildren, and
three great grandchildren.
He was preceded
in death by two brothers, Omar and Hubert Sharp.
Funeral services
were held Monday, December 29, at the Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home in
Versailles. Burial was in Rose Crest Cemetery.

VOTAW
Russie Mae Harlow Votaw, 93,
of Washington County, died at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 17, 2008, at the
Springfield Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born June 2, 1915, in
Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Lannie and Katie Wilson
Harlow.
Votaw was a member of New
Hope Baptist Church and a retired employee of Cowden Manufacturing Company in
Springfield.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Hershell Votaw; a brother, Allen Harlow; a sister, Beatrice Burns;
and a great-grandson, Joshua Reid Adkins.
Survivors include: one daughter,
Helen Turner of Mackville; two sons, Wallace Votaw of Pee Wee Valley and
Charles Votaw of Lebanon; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six
great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Carey and Son Funeral Home, Springfield, with burial
in New Hope Cemetery. Rev. Cameron Jungles officiated and Rev. David Kizzlah
and Rev. Micah Carter assisted.
Pallbearers were Mark and
Gregory Votaw, Troy Lawson, Terry Price, Richie Nally and Richard Adkins.

Dartha B. “Dorothy” Ward,
90, of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008 at the Harrodsburg Health Care
Center.
Born April 13, 1918 in
Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Flossie Bera Johnson
Yocum and was the widow of Stanley Randolph "Burky" Ward.
She was a homemaker, a farm
wife and a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church where she served as secretary
for many years.
Survivors include a number
of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by
two sisters, Sally Yocum Phillips and Della Gash and a brother, Rufus Yocum.
The funeral was held
Saturday, Dec. 27 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with John David Lane
officiating. Burial was in the Hopewell Baptist Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers were Don
Stiglich, Joe D. Wilson, Arthur Delbert Reynolds, David Moore, Gary Watts and
Paul Wayne Peavler.

ARNOLD
William Meredith Arnold, 75,
of Danville, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Central Baptist Hospital in
Lexington.
Born Dec. 31, 1933, in
Mercer County, he was the son of the late William R. and Edna Lucille Bryant
Arnold and was the widower of Helen Carpenter Arnold.
He was a retired investigator
for the Danville Police Department and again retired in 1997 from the Attorney
General’s office. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1961.
He was a Baptist, a member of the Kentucky Peace Officers Association and a
graduate of the FBI National Academy.
Survivors include: two sons,
Barry S. (Ann) Arnold of Danville and Tony (Carol) Arnold of Gainesville, FL;
five sisters, Peggy Brown, Delores (Charles) McCrystal, Sandra Dees, Debbie
(Dennis) Sallee and Jackie Phillips, all of Harrodsburg; and five
grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a
brother, Roland Arnold.
The funeral was held
Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 at Stith Funeral Home with the Rev. Quentin Scholtz
officiating. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Marie Jackson Blacketer, 80
of Lawrenceburg died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008 at Central Baptist Hospital in
Lexington.
Born Oct. 8, 1928, she was
the daughter of the late Nora Carroll and H. L. Jackson and was the widow of
Charles Eugene Blacketer.
She was a member of
Lawrenceburg First Baptist Church, the New Hope Sunday School class at First
Baptist.
Survivors include: two daughters, Becky Blacketer and Teresa (Mac) McIntosh,
both of Lawrenceburg; one son, Mike (Linda) Blacketer, of Lawrenceburg; one
sister, Dora (Mike) Higgonbotham of Mercer County; two brothers, Rusty (Mary)
Jackson, of Versailles and Eugene (Lee) Jackson of Mercer County; three
grandchildren and three step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
two sisters, Kitty and Naomi and one brother, Lowell Burchell.
The funeral was held
Thursday, Jan.1, 2009 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Eaton
and Dr. Bob Ehr officiating. Burial was in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Carlos Eugene Bottom, 54, of
Parksville, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009 at his residence.
Born Oct. 28, 1954 in Mercer
County, he was the son of James Taylor Bottom of Harrodsburg and the late
Harvest Mae Pruitt Bottom and was the husband of Charlotte Holt Bottom.
He was a member of the
Pleasant Run Baptist Church where he was a trustee and played the base guitar.
He was also an engine operator for Boyle County Engine #5, active with WDFB
radio where he had at one time a radio ministry titled “God wants to change
your Life,” and was an active evangelist.
In addition to his father
and wife, survivors include: three daughters, Kelly Bottom and Tori (Jonathan)
Bowles, both of Harrodsburg and Carla (Mike) Medley of Junction City; one son,
Steven (Vickie) Reed of Danville; one brother, Joe Dale Bottom of Pennsylvania
and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by
one sister, Joyce Gail Donahue and one brother, Donnie Bottom.
The funeral was held Monday,
Jan. 5, 2009 at the Pleasant Run Baptist Church with Rev. J. R. Fields, Rev.
Bobby Abbott, Rev. Don Drake and Rev. Larry Moore officiating. Bural was in the
new Holt Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers were members of
Boyle County Engine #5.
Honorary pallbearers were
Tom Johnson, Bill Minks, Joe Pruitt, Jonathan Bowles and Mike Medley.

Rosa Lee Robinson Carpenter,
97, widow of Enoch Arden Carpenter, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008.
She was born August 1, 1911
in Harrodsburg, to the late Levi and Lonie Bell Brown Robinson.
She was the former co-owner
of the Carpenters Dish Barn, member of Nicholasville Baptist Church, former
trustee, a faithful member of the Lucile Hare Sunday School Class and a life
member of the WMC.
Survivors include: two
children, Minerva Jo Griffith, GA, and Monte (Sondra Gayle) Carpenter,
Jessamine County; four grandchildren, Danny (Lycia) Carpenter, Jessamine
County, Tina (Glenn) Miller, Garrard County, Teresa (Paul) Floyd, Jessamine
County, Debbie (Chuck) Fenwick, GA, seven great-grandchildren, Monica, Travis
and Eric Austin Carpenter, Jonathan and Jason Floyd, all of Jessamine County,
Kristina and Gem Miller, Garrard County, one great-great-grandchild, Abby
Carpenter; one brother, James Russell Robinson, Jessamine County.
Services were held Friday,
January 2, at the Betts & West Funeral Home in Nicholasville with Rev.
Allen Harrod officiating. Burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.

Phillip Dale Creech, 50, of
Harrodsburg, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at his residence after a short illness.
Born Dec. 18, 1958 in
Fayette County, he is the son of Ella Louise Creech of Harrodsburg and the late
Estill Creech, Jr.
He attended Lafayette High
School in Lexington, was a musician (having played with the early band named
Exile), an artist, a cook and general laborer at the Harrod Assisted Living
Center in Harrodsburg and attended the Opera House Tabernacle on Main Street in
Harrodsburg.
In addition to his mother,
survivors include: one brother, Eric Creech of South Carolina; three sisters,
Cathy (Pete) Dennen, Cheryl Atkinson and Angela Creech, all of Harrodsburg and
several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be
held at a later date. There will be no public visitation.

Geneva Dunn, 91, died
Monday, Jan 5, 2009 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center after a long illness.
Born Feb. 24, 1917 in
Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of Raymond Crockett and Mattie Wilson Short
and was the widow of William “Jim Bo” Dunn.
She was a housewife and a
member of the St. Peter AME Church in Harrodsburg.
Survivors include: one
sister, Bessie Esterland of Lexington and several nieces and nephews.

Henry Nathan
“Buddy” Edmondson, 80, of Lawrenceburg, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at
his residence.
He was the
husband of the late Hazel Marie Parker Edmondson and son of the late Marion
Francis and Sadie Dean Edmondson.
He was the owner
of Edmondson Plumbing & Heating Supply in Lawrenceburg for 57 years and was
a former member of the Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church.
Mr. Edmondson is
survived by: one son, Alan (Julia) Edmondson of Lawrenceburg; three grandsons,
Nathan (Leslie) Edmondson, Matthew Edmondson, and John Edmondson, all of
Lawrenceburg; two great grandchildren, Bryce and Sophie Edmondson; three
brothers, Gene Edmondson of Mercer County, Marion Edmondson of Versailles, and
Elmer Wilgus “Wig” Edmondson of Anderson County.
He was preceded
in death by a half brother, Clifton Stine.
Funeral service
was held Sunday, January 4, 2009 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home in
Lawrenceburg with Bro. Jack Smith officiating. Burial will follow in
Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Wayne Holland.

Hulda Mae Hafley,
68, of Junction City, died Friday, January 2, 2009.
Born December 13,
1940 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Ray and Mary
Ellen Gordon Hafley.
She was a member
of Ellisburg Baptist Church.
Survivors
include: two brothers, Roy and Levi Hafley, both of Louisville; three sisters,
Dorothy Spears of Moreland, Carol East of Lancaster and Jane Reed of
Harrodsburg; and nieces and nephews.
Services were
held Monday, January 5, at the W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland.

Virginia Helm, 102, of
Danville, died Jan. 2, 2009 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born July 23, 1906 in Parksville,
she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Hardin and Mary Moore Helm.
She was retired after
Forty-Two Years from Kentucky School for the Deaf, having served as an
Executive Secretary to four superintendents from the late 1920s to the early
1970s and was a member of the First Christian Church in Danville.
Survivors include: one
brother, Stanley Helm of Danville; four nephews, Wayne Westerfield of
Harrodsburg, John Cocanougher of Oxford, OH, H.P. Durham of Prescott, AZ and
Donald Helm of Fish Creek, WI; two nieces, Lillian Scoyen of Palo Alto, CA and
Mary Jo Helm of Fish Creek, WI and several great nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held on
Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 at the Parksville Cemetery with Larry Camic officiating.

in Somerset.
Born March 21, 1916 in
Washington County, she was the daughter of the late George Thomas and Louisa
Katherine Pinkston Litteral.
She was retired from
Beaumont Inn and was a member of the Mt. Freedom Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one
sister Beatrice L. Hourigan of Harrodsburg; two nephews, Donald Litteral of
Cornishville and Robbie Litteral of Danville; one niece, Hilda Mae Pike of
Lexington and several great nieces and nephews.

Helen Ann Ketron Lilly, 100,
widow of John M. Lilly, died Friday, 1/2/2009 at her home in Georgetown.
She was born in McAfee, KY

Harrodsburg, he was the son of Donald Ray Peavler and Phyllis Jean Perkins
Peavler.
He was a retired employee
for the Kentucky Department of Highways, a farmer, an associate for Sims
Auction and Realty Company, a member of the Masonic Lodge # 777 F & AM, the
Wilderness Shrine Club, member of the Harrodsburg Order of Eastern Star # 309,
the Oleika Shrine Temple in Lexington and a member of the Danville 1st Church
of God.
In addition to his mother
and father, survivors include: two sons, Justin Dale Peavler and Kevin Dale
Peavler, both of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Donald Wayne Peavler and Craig
Allen Peavler, both of Harrodsburg and several aunts, uncles, nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by
a son, William Ray Peavler, a brother, Gary Lee Peavler, a sister, Jo Ella
Peavler and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

She was a Charter Member of
the Magnolia Street Christian Church and the founding Trustee of Royalty Cemetery
in Bohon.

Louisville; one daughter, Mary Agnes (Lonnie) Hatchel of Harrodsburg; two

Baptist faith.

Lebanon, and Dale Howey, Vine Grove; a sister, Robin Howey Mitchell, Harlan;
and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009 at the McDowell Place in Danville.
Born Sept. 27, 1925 in
Louisville, she was the daughter of the late Arvin Wilmont and Pearl Pilcher
Baker and was the wife of John Bruce Sparrow.
She was a former clerk at
Sutherland Pharmacy and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church where she
taught Sunday School for more than fifty years and had served on the Baptist
Foundation Board for several years.
In addition to her husband,
survivors include: two daughters, Sharon (Berry) Shewmaker of Harrodsburg and
Angie (Brian) Shurr of Somerset; two sons, John (Cathy) Sparrow of Lebanon and
Rick (Linda) Sparrow of Louisville; two sisters, Dolly Mullins of Danville and
Ruth Bullock of Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

Ruby Kathryn Cummins Yankey,
84, of Danville died Saturday January 3, 2009 in Danville.
Born Sept. 15, 1924, in
Boyle County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Milton and Rena Serena
Anderson Cummins.
She was a retired employee
of Cricketeer in Harrodsburg. She was a very active member of Calvary Baptist
Church where she was a member of the Happy Hearts Club and a member of Ephraim
McDowell Regional Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary. Ruby had done volunteer work
for both nursing homes in Danville.
Survivors include: one son,
Pete (Peggy) Yankey of Forkland; one sister, Clara Brown Duncan of Louisville;
one brother, Ralph (Jean) Cummins of Danville; three grandchildren, Mike
Gorley, Kim Broyles and Greg Yankey; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by
a daughter, Judy Gorley, four sisters and a brother.
A Celebration of Ruby's life
will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 12, at the Calvary Baptist Church in
Danville, by Rev. Ernest Martin and Rev. Doug Wesley.
Honorary pallbearers will be
members of Ruby's Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be from noon
until the time of service at the church. A reception will be held following the
service to continue in the celebration of Ruby's life.

Lester Thomas “L. T.” Bain,
97, of Lawrenceburg, died Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Harrodsburg Healthcare
Center.
He was born November 15,
1911 in Anderson County and was the son of the late Minnie Way and John Willis
Bain and husband of the late Beulah Wooldridge Bain.
Mr. Bain was a member of the
Presbyterian Faith and a retired farmer.
He is survived by: one
daughter, Patsy Bain of Lawrenceburg; one son, John William Bain of Mt. Eden;
three grandchildren, Deborah Reinscheld, John Mark Bain, and Melissa Eichhorn,
and five great-grandchildren, Tyler Reinscheld, Kyle Reinscheld, Coty Bain,
Mason Eichhorn, and Claire Eichhorn; one sister Jennie Thurman of Frankfort.
In addition to his parents
and his wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Wallace Parido, Louise

Mildred Alice Gortney
Dickerson, 88, died on January 8, 2009.
Born on Sept. 18, 1920, she
was the daughter of the late Oscar Evans and Bessie Marshall Gortney and was
the wife of Z. S. “Dick” Dickerson.
She was educated in the
Harrodsburg Public Schools. She earned a BA degree from Eastern Kentucky State
Teachers College (now Eastern Kentucky University) and the MS Degree from the
University of Kentucky.
She taught in the high
schools of Shelby, OH and Bardstown. She was a faculty member at Florence
State Teachers College (now the University of North Alabama) and at the University
of Kentucky.
She was promoted to full
professor at James Madison University, the first time the rank had been
awarded.
She had a number of
professional publications for the Southern Association for the Education of
Young Children.
In addition to her husband,
survivors include: one son, Richard E. (Nancy) Dickerson of Staunton; one
daughter, Margaret (Raymond) Dickerson Foster of Greensboro, NC; one brother,
William Marshall Gortney of Orange Park, FL; three sisters, Martha Jane
Robinson of Centerville, OH, Margaret Tapp of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Monnie
Talley of Frankfort.
She was preceded in death by
a grandson, Raymond J. Foster, IV.

Voorheis Dugan and was the husband of Margie Logan Dugan of Livonia, MI.
He was a member of the Mayo
Christian Church and was a 1952 graduate of Harrodsburg High School. He moved
to Michigan in 1953 to attend Radio Electronics & Television School from
which he graduated in 1954. In 1995 he retired from the logistics department of
automotive supplier BASF after 42 years of service.
Survivors include: two
daughters, Debbie (Jerry) Young of White Lake, MI and Beverly (Mitchell) Fowler
of Dolphin, VA; two grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Ann Turner and a cousin,

horseback riding, books and she "Loved Lucy." She was a member of
Christ Church Cathedral.

Elsworth and Clarinda Smoot of Harrodsburg.
Cremation was chosen and

Home, Lebanon, with burial in Haysville Cemetery, Gravel Switch. Rev. Gerald

Carlos Ray Cunningham, 30,
of Mount Vernon, formerly of Stanford, died Friday January 16, 2009.

Louise Fenster, 74, died
Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 at the Oaklawn Nursing Home in Louisville.
She was the wife of Albert
Fenster.

one sister, Margaret Trimble; one brother, Frank (Betty) Gains and five

Carrol Gene Humes, 69, of
Moreland died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009.
Born Jan. 16, 1940 in Mercer
County, he was the son of the late Irvin and Stella Robinson Humes and was the
husband of Evelyn Smith Humes.
He was a member of Junction
City First Baptist Church, retired from ATR, and for many years worked with the
Russell County Agape Prison Ministry.
In addition to his wife,
survivors include: two sons, Michael (Karen) Humes of Moreland and Dean
(Margit) Humes of Germany; one brother, Osie Humes of Harrrodsburg; three
sisters, Bonnie Humes of Danville, Dorothy Robertson of Harrodsburg and Emma
(Curtis) Corn of Moreland and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by
a daughter, Melissa Bishop, two brothers, Glenn and Howard Humes and by an
infant grandson.
The funeral will be held at
1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009 at the Junction City Baptist Church with Bro. Dale
Denton officiating. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Mary Woodson Judge, 91,
daughter of the former Woodson Jacobs and Julia Glover Jacobs, died Mon,
January 19, 2009.
Mary was a member of the
Lafayette Christian Church, Lexington where she served as Deacon for many
years. She was a former member of Owingsville Women’s club and member of
University of Kentucky Woman’s Club. She worked for many years in retail
business, served as assistant clerk for Bath County Selective Service Board and
served for thirteen years as hostess of Lincoln Foundation. She managed a farm
in Montgomery County where she raised and sold strawberries.
She is survived by her
husband of 68 years, Bill Judge; a sister Dorothy Thomas, Frankfort; a niece,
Ann French Thomas, Frankfort, nephew, Ken Woodson Thomas, Harrodsburg; two
great nieces, Amy Thomas Miller, Harlan and Julie Ann Thomas, Florida.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, January 21, at the Lafayette Christian Church. Burial followed at
Machpelah Cemetery, Mt. Sterling.
Pallbearers were former
students of Bill and Mary Judge.

Mae Helen Dyehouse Martin,
88, of Crab Orchard, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009 at the James B. Haggin Memorial
Hospital.
Born Feb. 20, 1920 in Crab
Orchard, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Nellie Brown Dyehouse and was
the widow of Cecil Martin..
She was a homemaker, a
retired Library Assistant at the Harvey Helm Memorial Library, a former pianist
at the Crab Orchard Baptist Church, was former hostess at the William Whitley
House State Park and a longtime member of the Crab Orchard P.T.A.
Survivors include: two sons,
Donnie (Marza) Martin of Lancaster and David Randy (Lisa) Martin of Berea; one
daughter, Pat Martin Godby of Harrodsburg; one sister, Sandra Smith of
Stanford; four grandchldren; five great-grandchildren and one great,
great-grandson.
In addition to her husband
& parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Libby Gilbert, a
son-in-law, Jim Gilbert and a grandson, David Martin.
The funeral will be held at

Aaron Mobley, 64, of Harrodsburg,
died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in
Danville.
Born Oct. 15, 1944 in
Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Hallis Mobley and Gladys Perkins Morris
and was the husband of Phyllis Shackelford Mobley.
He was a carpenter by trade,
a member of the Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church, a member of the Lucas
Oil Pro Truck Pullers League and owner and driver of the “Mad Dog” pulling
truck for 30 years. He was also instrumental at the Mercer County Fair where he
was the Senior Advisor to the Motor Sports Program
In addition to his wife,
survivors include: two sons, David (Shaundra) Mobley and Jay Mobley, both of
Harrodsburg; one daughter, Samantha Mobley of Louisville; one step daughter,
Stefanie (Justin) Mason of Niota, TN; two step sons, Chad Gilvin and Wesley
Gilvin, both of Harrodsburg; one sister, Roxie Jackson of Harrodsburg and two
brothers, Curtis Mobley of Florida and Donnie Mobley of Harrodsburg.
He was preceded in death by
a wife, Janice Riley Mobley.

Elizabeth Peterman, 97, of Findlay, OH died on Thursday, January 8, 2009
surrounded by her family.
She was
born on November 13, 1911 in Mercer County to the late Handy Cassell and Mattie
Jane Brown Kurtz. She was the widow of Glen Arthur Peterman.
She enjoyed spending winters
in Florida, time on the beach, playing golf and spending time with her family.
She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Surviving
are: six children, Glen Peterman Jr. of Toledo, OH, Steve (Anna) Peterman of
Arlington, OH, Nina (David) Pfisterer of Findlay, OH, Charles (Darlene)
Peterman of Perrysburg, OH Norma (Bruce) Stewart of Springfield, OH and Joseph
(Charlotte) Peterman of Findlay, OH; nine grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nettie (Archie) Scott of Harrodsburg and
Bessie Keller of Knoxville, TN; and a brother Lee (Rhoda) Kurtz of Lancaster.
She was
preceded in death by siblings, Margaret Edwards, Lucille Crutchfield, and Lowie
Clary.
A private
funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 12, at the
Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, Findlay, OH with the Rev. Don Flory
officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.

REDMON
Truman Coyle Redmon, 92, died
peacefully in the presence of her family at the Hospice Care Center in
Lexington on Friday, January 16, 2009.
Born in Woodford County, she
was a daughter of the late Joshua and Grace Truman Collins Coyle.
She was a member of the Troy
Presbyterian Church. Truman was educated at the Nonesuch School. Her mother
died when Truman was only 13, and she left school to help raise her younger
brother John and take care of the household. She lived in the "big
house" at Nonesuch and helped care for her family until the death of her
husband. She was active in her church and in her community. She was known for
her flamboyant "Red" trademark and fashioned red hats before they
became culturally popular. She had been an active member of the Woodford County
Senior Citizens, was active in the "Kitchen Band", was a member of
the Order of the Eastern Star, was a Kentucky Colonel, was a Sunday School
teacher, and member of the advisory board of Community Education.
Surviving are her children:
Fay (Jack) Lee of Versailles, Marlene (J. B.) Hawkins of Lawrenceburg, Sandy
(Olena) Redmon of Versailles, Randy (Nancy) Redmon of Mercer County; 10
grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and several
nieces and nephews including John Edward Coyle of Versailles.
In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Redmon, two sisters, Catherine
Coyle Jacobs, Mary Lillan “Minnie” Potts, and a brother, John Coyle.
Funeral services were
conducted Monday, January 19, at the Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home in
Versailles with Rev. David Duggan and Rev. Ben Lenhart officiating. Interment
was in Versailles Cemetery.

was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught in Kentucky and Indiana
and for 30 years in the Atlanta Public School System. She was a graduate of
Georgetown College and after graduating she served as Registrar for the
college. She was also a member of St. Columbia Episcopal Church in Washington,
D.C.

Sarnoff of Washington, D.C.; one son, Wendell (Joy) Belew Jr. of Washington,

Jan. 21, 1916 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Morgan and Lottie
Roberts Gabhart and was the widower of Florence M. Gabhart.
He
was an Army veteran of WWII and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was retired
from manufacturing, an antique dealer and was a member of the Harrodsburg
Church of Christ.
Survivors
include: two brothers, Chester and Murrell Gabhart, both of Harrodsburg; one
sister, Mable Berry, of Glasgow and six nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Richey.

Baptist Church on Huntertown Road. Sylvia had retired from Texas Instruments
with 41 years of service.

Ralph C. Sallee, 54, of Lancaster, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 at Saint Joseph
Hospital in Lexington.
Born Aug. 16, 1954 in
Columbus, OH, he was the son of Barbara Haddix Sallee of Mercer County and the
late T. C. Sallee and was the husband of Alesia Adams Sallee.
He
was the head girls basketball coach at East Jessamine High School. He was a
graduate of Mercer County High School, Cincinnati Bible College and earned his
master's degree from Xavier University. He also received a teaching
certification from Eastern Kentucky University. For the past 28 years, Bro.
Sallee has served as the pastor of Scott's Fork Christian Church in Garrard
County. Throughout his career, he has also served as a teacher, preacher, and
administrator for the Central Kentucky Christian School in Harrodsburg, coached
at Harrodsburg High School, Burgin High School, and Lexington Christian
Academy.
In
addition to his wife and mother, survivors include: one son, Nathaniel Sallee
of Nicholasville; one daughter, Courtney LeMay of Lancaster; two brothers,
Tommy (Cindy) Sallee of Harrodsburg and Rodney W. (Cathy) Sallee of
Nicholasville; one sister, Sheila (Max) Clark of Harrodsburg; a mother-in-law,
Goldie Adams of Lancaster; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins,

Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born,
May 21, 1949 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Mary Elizabeth VanDyke Bradshaw
and the late John Wiley Jr. and was the husband of Jean Hartman Smith.
He
served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict, was a former police officer
for the Harrodsburg Police Department, retired from the Harrodsburg Waste Water
Treatment Plant, was an employee of the Harrodsburg Transportation Company. He
was also a Little League and High School Baseball Umpire, an interim pastor for
the Dividing Ridge Baptist Church in Mayo and was a member and associate
minister of the Centennial Baptist Church where he was also in charge of the
Bus Ministry for many years. He was a 1968 graduate of Harrodsburg High School,

Taylor, 69, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 at his residence.
Born
Aug. 24, 1939 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Edwin and Mary
Coleman Taylor.
He
was a retired auto body repairman having worked for Elwood Long Used Cars and
the Boone National Guard Center in Frankfort. He was a retired veteran of the
National Guard and a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church.
Survivors
include: one son, Doug (Angie) Taylor of Harrodsburg; one sister, Carolyn
Hardin of Moreland; one half brother, Fred Darson of Washington, D.C. and
several nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Taylor and a sister, Ruby Harrison.

William Madison Bottoms, 76,
of Mackville, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born April 11, 1932 in
Washington County, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Madge Wilson Bottoms
and was the husband of Willie Frances Hendren Bottoms.
He was a member of the Deep
Creek Baptist Church, an army veteran and a retired truck driver.
In addition to his wife,
survivors include: one daughter, Jeannie Warner of Frankfort; two sons, David
Bottoms of Dry Ridge and Allen (Karen) Bottoms of Campbellsvills; three
brothers, Ernest Lee Bottoms of Edmonton, Carroll Dean (Ingrid) Bottoms of
DeKalb, IL and Leon (Blonnie Jean) Bottoms of Lawrenceburg and four
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by
a sister, Emma Cheatham and six brothers, Thurman, Wilson, Jim, Loraine,
Addison and Cecil Bottoms.
The funeral was held
Wednesday, Feb. 4 at the Carey and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Readnour and
Charles Knecht officiating. Burial was in the Peter Cemetery at Mackville with
full military rites by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Dayton Michael "Mike" Butcher, 71, husband of Peggy Hatchell
Butcher, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at his home in Danville.
He was born October 13,
1937, in Elkhart, Ind., the son of Bette E. Butcher and the late Dwight D.
Butcher.
He was a member of Lexington
Avenue Baptist Church in Danville, where he served as a deacon and taught adult
Bible study. He previously was a member and served at Immanuel Baptist Church
in Lexington,. He was a 1955 graduate of Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Ky.,
and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He then began his 40-year
career in kitchen and bath design in Lexington,. He moved his home and business
to Danville in 2001.
Survivors include: his wife
of 32 years, Peggy Hatchell Butcher of Harrodsburg; mother, Bette E. Butcher,
Lexington; and a brother, David D. Butcher; one daughter, Kristi L. (David)
Yahn; two sons, Gregory M. (Anna) Butcher and Joshua B. Butcher; eight
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of Lexington.
The funeral service was
conducted Monday, February 2, at the Lexington Avenue Baptist Church, Danville.
Burial was in Springhill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.

La Center, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009 in West Paducah.
Born April 30, 1961, in
Mercer County, he was the son of Ralph and Selena Chilton of Lawrenceburg and
was the husband of Kay Goode Chilton of La Center.
He was employed at
Youngblood Construction Company in Mayfield and was a member of Antioch Masonic
Lodge # 332.
In addition to his parents
and wife, survivors include: one sister, Carol (Mike) Samples of Lawrenceburg;

He was born March
29, 1952 in Anderson County to the late Presley K. and Callie Mildred Drury

electricity and construction. He was a member of the Sand Spring Baptist Church
and the Freedom/Fellowship Sunday School Class.

“Shorty” Sutton Thomas, 85, of Mackville, passed away at 2:45 a.m., Saturday,
Jan. 31, 2009 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital Extended Care Unit in
Harrodsburg.
She was
born June 14, 1923 in Washington County, to the late Herbert “Pete” and Fannie
Keeling Sutton.
Preceding
her in death was her husband, LeRoy Thomas on April 2, 1988, a brother, J. H.
Sutton and a sister, Pauline Sutton Fenwick.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Mackville Baptist Church and of the Thompsonville Baptist Church. She owned and operated Shory’s Beauty Shop in Mackville for 22 years.
She is
survived by a son, Raymond “PeeWee” Nally of Springfield; three daughters,
Drecilla (Douglas) Hatchett of Glasgow, Marlene (Jackie) Griffey of

She was born on August 29,
1939 in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of the late William Harold and Zula Ping
Lanham.
She was a beautician and of
the Church of God faith. Ms. Pierce volunteered for Widow-to-Widow Support
Group and was active in the community. She enjoyed piano music, gardening,
crafts, and her family.
Survivors include: one son,
George R. (Mariane) Jones of Burgin; two daughters, Donna (Jeffrey) Beavers of
Burnside and Reva (Sean) Marcum of Somerset; and three grandchildren, Jacob
Marcum, Harvest and Jeremy Beavers.

Zachary Lee Taylor, 34, of
Brodhead, passed away Monday, February 9, 2009 .
He was born on July 28, 1974
in Mt. Vernon, a son of L. P. and Gracie "Dolly" Payne Taylor.
Zachary was an antique
dealer whose hobbies and interest include guns, baseball cards, comics, old
toys, records and music.
Survivors include: his
fiancé Patricia Begley of Brodhead; his parents, L. P. and Gracie
"Dolly" Taylor of Brodhead; step son, Kevin Begley of Brodhead; a
brother, Merle Taylor (Heather) of Mt. Vernon; a sister, Susan Taylor (fiancé
Matt) of Michigan; an uncle, Tom Taylor (Bev) of Somerset; aunts, Angel Taylor
of Brodhead, Wanda Wilson of Eubank, Marcell Taylor of Michigan, Tina Taylor of
Berea, and Irene Taylor of Harrodsburg.
He was preceded in death by
three uncles, Dave and Moscoe Taylor, Jimmy Payne; an aunt, Wannie Lee Lawson,
and great-aunt, Dona Givens.
Funeral services were
conducted Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals,
Brodhead.

Davis M. Turner III, 59,
husband of Shirley Young Turner, died Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the James
B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born in Lexington, he was
the son of Patricia Ann Turner and the late Davis M. Turner, Jr.
He was the owner of Quality
Towing and was a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God.
Survivors, other than his
wife, include: one son, Davis M. (Crystal) Turner IV; two step-sons, Michael R.
(Sherry) Baker, and Ken Baker; nine grandchildren, Chelsea, Kimberly, Alyssa,
Autumn, Austin, Haley, Bradley, Aaron and Landon; two brothers, Bill (Helen )
Turner, and Paul Turner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by
two sisters, Carol Ann Turner and Deborah Kay Turner.
Funeral services will be
conducted at 12:30 p.m. Friday, February 13, at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home,
Harrodsburg Road, Lexington. Burial will be in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.

Nina Underwood, 51, of Harrodsburg,
died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at the Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville.
Born Jan. 7, 1958 in Taylor
County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Cecil Wethington and Rose
Bernice Wethington and was the wife of Tim Underwood.
She was an employee at
Hitachi and a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church.
In addition to her husband,
survivors include: one daughter, Tanya (Rodney) Cloyd of Harrodsburg; one son,
Jonathan (Sunshine) Underwood of Danville; four sisters, Paulita Cooper of Liberty,
Matilda Sapp of Louisville, Lois MacLaren of Danville and Faye Clements of
Liberty; five brothers, Adrian Wethington of Liberty, Curtis Wethington of
Russell Springs, Dale Wethington of Frankfort, Tom Wethington of Hustonville
and David Wethington of Liberty and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
a sister, Mary Wethington.

Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the St. Bernard Catholic Church with Rev. Patrick Dolan
officiating. Burial was in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009 at his home in Harrodsburg.
Born April 27, 1943 in
Gainesville, TX, he was the son of the late J.C. and Katherine Davis Wilham and
was the husband of Daphyne "Tootie" Wilham.
He was a retired auto body
man for Wade Motors & Derring's Body Shop, a member of the Pioneer Baptist
Church and a member of the NRA.
In addition to his wife,
survivors include: three daughters, Rhonda (Ricky) Mobley, Jo (Mike) Savage and
Tina (Brad) Sallee; one son, Keith (Becky) Wilham; one sister, Pat (David)
Miller; one brother, Larry (Carla) Wilham Sr; one brother-in-law, Darrel Watts;
a mother-in-law, Dorothy "Little Bit" Price; thirteen Grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Sunday,
Feb. 8, 2009 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Brad King officiating. Burial
was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Florence was a retired employee
of James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital, a member of Perryville United Methodist
Church and a member of the Boyle County Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star
No. 359.
Survivors include a sister,
Beatrice (Godbey) Whitehouse of Danville; a brother, Rual (Nellie) Arnold of
Perryville; three nephews, William (Gloria) Powell of Perryville, Stuart Arnold

She was preceded in death by

Dora Dean Clark Ballard, 83,
of Garrard County died Friday January 13, 2009.
Born Aug. 2, 1925, in
Garrard County, she was the daughter of J. H. and Ida Mae Tracy Clark.
Dora was a devoted housewife and mother, and a
member of the Lancaster Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher
for many years. She also was a devoted member of the Lexington Road Homemakers
Club.
Survivors include: her
husband of 62 years, Bob Ballard; one son, Robert (Sue) Ballard of Garrard
County; five brothers, John, Henry, Gordon and Lucian Clark, all of Garrard
County, and Carl Clark of Harrodsburg; and one sister, Louise Sherrow of
Richmond, IN.
She was preceded in death by
a sister, Roberta Doolin of Garrard County.
Services were held Monday,
February 16, at the Spurlin Funeral Home, Lancaster, by Bros. Bob Rush and Bill
Rhodus. Burial was in Lancaster Cemetery.

Tifanee Patton Bradshaw, age 26, mother of Braxton, Braidon and Brianne
Margaret Bradshaw died Sunday, February 15, 2009 unexpectedly at her home in
Harrodsburg.

Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of Ramond D. Patton and the late Margaret Ann
Bradshaw.
She was employed at Goodwill
and Pizza Hut and was a member of the Little Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to her

Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Margaret Matherly
Roney. She was a retired standard operations procedure clerk for Corning Glass
after 35 years. She was a life-long member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church,
also a member of Widow to Widow, Light and Lively and an active volunteer.
Survivors include: two sons:
Ronnie (Delores) Click and Rickie (Wanda) Click both of Harrodsburg, 3
grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren, one step great-grandchild, one
great-great-grandchild and two nieces. She was predeceased by a sister, Joyce
Logue, and two grandsons, Randy & Rodney Click.

Lavon Lake Graham, 84, of
Harrodsburg and formerly of Mackville, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 at the
University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
A native of Washington
County, she was born Sept. 29, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Walker
William and Pearl Ann Satterly Lake.
She was a member of the
Willisburg Baptist Church, a graduate of Willisburg High School, Campbellsville
College and Eastern Kentucky University. She was a retired school teacher,
having taught 35 years.
Survivors include her
husband, Truman Graham; a niece, Robbie Lake Puckett of Raleigh, N.C., two nephews,
Connie Lake of Benton and Ricky Lake of Mt. Washington, a sister-in-law, Edna
Lake of Danville and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by
a brother, Freddie W. Lake; two sisters, Edna Veloise Lake, and Madie Arnold,
and a nephew, Loyd Arnold.

Feb, 16 at the Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield with Dr. R. G.

Eugene “Gene” Hendren, 82,
died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
Born April 6, 1926 in
Washington County, he was the son of the late Irvin and Addie Bruner Hendren.
He was a retired Corning
Incorporated employee where he was a production supervisor. He was a World War
II Veteran of the United States Army and attended Ebenezer Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons:
Irvin Eugene (Sue) Hendren of Etowah, NC and Wendell Brack (Ann) Hendren of
Harrisburg, NC; one daughter, Teresa Ann (Jim) Davis of Harrodsburg; one
brother, Reid Hendren of Harrodsburg, a companion, Brenda Collier of
Harrodsburg, seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and
nephews.
Hendren was preceded in
death by nine brothers and sisters.
A service was held Saturday,
Feb. 14, 2009 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with John Kesel
officiating. Burial with military rites was in Spring Hill Cemetery with Todd Davis,

formerly of Stanford died Feb. 12, 2009 in Okeechobee, FL. Born August 24, 1943
in Stanford, he was the son of Ida Naylor Hurst and the late Lincoln Hurst.
He was retired from IBM and
was a former employee of Fayette County Schools.
Survivors include his
mother, Ida Hurst of Stanford; one son, David (Jeannie Gayle) Hurst of
Lancaster; two sisters, Gladys (George) Cunningham of Danville and Joan Rudd of
Palm Coast, FL; two grandchildren, and a companion, Bonnie Cunningham of
Salvisa.
He was preceded in death by
his father, Lincoln Hurst; a brother, Ray Hurst; and sister, Laverne Smith Fox.

husband of Martha Hisle Monroe, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009 at his residence in
Burgin.
Born March 31, 1939 in
Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Sidney S. and Margerie Taylor Monroe.
He was a retired carpenter,
security officer, police officer and a fireman for the City of Burgin for many
years. He was a Veteran of the Ky Army National Guard. He was a member of the
Burgin Christian Church where he served as a deacon, Past Patron of the Eastern
Star #309 and Past Master of the Mercer Masonic Lodge #777.
Additional survivors besides
his wife include: two sons: Joseph Allen (Pam) Monroe of Burgin and William Lee
(Jeanne) Monroe of Waco; two sisters: Mary Alma Carmack and Betty Tackett both
of Harrodsburg; ten grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by
one brother: Eugene Monroe and one grandson.

Feb. 20, 2009, at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Mandye Yates

Megan Marie Myers, 21, of
Burgin, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009 at the Central Baptist Hospital in
Lexington.
She was the daughter of John
and Della Myers.
She was a 2005 graduate of
Burgin High School where she was a cheerleader in middle school, played softball,
was a 4-H Leader and a member of the National Honor Society. She helped with
YMCA summer programs and was a summer intern for the Mercer County 4-H. She was
the pool manager, life guard and swim team coach at the Anderson Dean Community
Park Aquatic Center. She was currently attending Eastern Kentucky University
and majoring in Family and Child Studies. She was also a member, deacon and
substitute children’s Sunday School teacher at the Burgin Christian Church.
She is survived by her
parents; John and Della Wessling Myers, a sister; Lauren Michelle Myers,
grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be Thursday,
Feb. 19 from 5-8 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.Graveside Services will be
at 2 p.m. Friday in the Burgin Memorial Garden.

she was the daughter of the late Augustus Clark and Clarice (Singleton) Meaux.
She was a graduate of West Side
High School, a retired seamstress from the former Mercer Dress Corporation, an
employee of the Mercer County Senior Citizens center and a member of the
Centennial Baptist Church, where she served as supervisor of the kitchen and
dining hall and prepared the communion bread for many years.
Survivors other than her
husband include: two sons, William (Rhonda) Henry Parks Jr. of Cincinnati, OH
and James (Paula) Augustus Parks of Harrodsburg; three daughters, Teresa
(Robert) Louise Parks- Crumbie of Lexington, Alberta (Donnie) Marie Mays of
Harrodsburg, and Billie Jean Parks-Miles of Louisville, one step-daughter, Ruth
Ann Bryant, Harrodsburg; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two

14, 1933 in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Worley and Nettie
Casey Medley.
She was a caregiver for
several years. She was a member of the Indian Hills Christian Church.
In addition to her husband
She is survived by a son: Howard Butch Sallee Jr. of Mercer County and a
daughter, Susan (Lee) Readnower of Mercer County, two brothers, Bobby Medley
and Carol Medley, both of Anderson County and one sister, Barbara Hatchell of
Anderson County, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by
one brother, Herbert Maurice Medley.
Services were held
Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with
Bro. Odis Clark officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery with Tanner
Readnower, Tyler Readnower, Lee Readnower, Ernest Hopkins, William Hatchell and
Johnny Ashburn serving as pallbearers.

Towing and was a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God.

Greer, 92, widow of William Hopper Greer, died Sat., Feb. 21, 2009 at St.

She was a homemaker and a charter
member of North View Baptist Church.
She is survived by: her
children, Carol (Bill) Edwards of Lexington and Billy (Phyllis) Greer of
Midlothian, VA; three grandchildren, Jeremiah (Rebekah) Greer of Sarasota, FL,
Avery (Cpt. Lance) Garner of Millbrook, AL and Will Edwards of Lexington; and
one great-grandchild, Ryan Garner.

Bobby Earl Hurst, 65, of
Salvisa, formerly of Stanford died Feb. 12, 2009 in Okeechobee, FL. Born Aug.
24, 1943 in Stanford, he was the son of Ida Naylor Hurst and the late Lincoln
Hurst. He was retired from IBM and was a former employee of Fayette County
Schools.
Survivors include his
mother, Ida Hurst of Stanford; one son, David (Jeannie Gayle) Hurst of
Lancaster; two sisters, Gladys (George) Cunningham of Danville and Joan Rudd of
Palm Coast, FL; two grandchildren, and a special friend and companion, Bonnie
Cunningham of Salvisa.
He was preceded in death by
his father, Lincoln Hurst; a brother, Ray Hurst; and sister, Laverne Smith Fox.

nephews, and several aunts and cousins.
She was preceded in death by

p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 at her home.
A native of Washington
County, she was born on April 16, 1922 to the late Andrew and Grace Hume Baker.

Willisburg Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, J. W. Scott on Sept. 6, 2008; a daughter, Glenda Baker on Sept.
19, 1976; a sister, Nettie Cooksey; and three brothers, Robert, Marvin and
Gilbert Junior Baker.
Survivors include four
daughters, Donna (Bob) Harlow of Mt. Washington, Alice (Kenneth) Pratt of

Truck Driver.

for 22 years and served several years in the Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by
his first wife, Carol Brewer Sharp and a son, Johnny Sharp.

of Coy H. and Ernestine Garrison Bush of Berea, died Sunday Feb. 28, 2009 at
the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
Doris was a member of the
Calvary Apostolic Church and the MARC Center where she worked part time, and is
a graduate of Berea Community High School.
Doris is also survived by:

Chevrolet and Hawkins Tune Up.
He is survived by: his wife
of 52 years, Maxine P. Hawkins, Lawrenceburg; two daughters, Jana (Robert)
Hudnall, Donna (Terry) Cunningham, both of Lawrenceburg; one son, Wayne Thurman
(Kaye), Danville; one sister, Mary Shelburne, Lawrenceburg; brother, John
Hawkins, Louisville; six grandchildren, Jason Hudnall, Teri Jean (Doug)

Cadiz died at 12:44 a.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Shady Lawn Nursing Center
in Cadiz.
Born December 1, 1926 in
Cadiz, he was the son of the late Winthrop Howell Hopson and Elizabeth Rice
(White) Hopson.
Hopson was a WWII US Marines
Veteran, a retired farmer, a member of Cadiz Christian Church where he served
as an elder, was a former chairman and member of the Trigg Co. Chapter of the
University of Kentucky Alumni Association, was a Farm Bureau Director, and was
a former member of the Trigg Co. Board of Education.
Survivors include his wife,
Celia (Moore) Hopson, a son, Howell Hopson, a brother, W. J. Hopson, two
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of Cadiz.
Services were held at Cadiz
Christian Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009 with Dr. Tom Martin

Wardle McDonald; his children, Denise, Betsy, and David McDonald, Louisville,

Monica Johnson Smith, 58,
wife of William Douglas Smith, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009.
Born May 8, 1950 in Woodford
County she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Evelyn Price Johnson.
Survivors, other than her husband, include: one daughter, Nicole (Robert) Stromberg, one son Doug Smith II, both of Versailles; two sisters, Wanda Brown of Versailles and Jewell Brown of Harrodsburg; five brothers, Sherman Johnson of New Jersey,
