KELLY
ISHAM
Local
woman dies in fire
Kelly Isham, 44, of 921 Sunset Drive lost her life
Tuesday apparently due to smoke inhalation from a fire that she allegedly
started at her home, Mercer County Deputy Sheriff Tim Gambrel said.
The fire was started sometime after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday,
Gambrel said.
Isham’s
17-year-old son left for school at approximately 7:30 am. Tuesday, and returned
home a little after 4 p.m. to find the house filled with smoke. He went to
neighbors and called 911, said Mercer Central Fire Department Chief Glen
Phillips.
Isham was
found dead in her home near the living room door at 4:20 pm. No one else was at
the residence at the time of the fire.
Property
damage from the fire was limited to the interior of the home. The fire started
in the hallway and smoke spread throughout the hosue. There was significant fire
damage in the hallway and collateral damage in several adjacent rooms.
When
firefighters arrived on the scene, they found significant fire damage, but the
fire, which produced a lot of soot and smoke, had burned itself out. Isham’s
body was found inside the house.
Neighbors in the Riverview Subdivision had not detected the
fire or smoke throughout the day.
“We’re
pretty confident that we know what started the fire, but we can’t release that until
the autopsy has been completed. Preliminary results should come back today,”
Phillips said Wednesday. (The report was not back by The Herald’s press time
Wednesday.
Gambrel
said he believed the fire had been started with gasoline.

for the team t-shirts and badges as well as the Burgin Bulldog soccer banner
which is prominently displayed at all the home games in the Anderson-Dean
Community Park. She helped with and organized successful soccer fundraisers. In
2007 she helped organize and coach a co-ed soccer team for Burgin students.

Weanling Division with CH Hayden Fox which went on to become a world champion
in the Five-Gaited Division.
Joan loved computers and all
the technical aspects of it. Joan managed for her sister and niece (Jane and
Brooke) their webpage, www.janeJacobsPhotography.com , for the past five years
and was very innovative and took great pride in getting photos up quickly after
each American Saddlebred horse show Jane and Brooke took photos at.
Taught the game of cribbage
by her father at an early age, Joan, in recent years, became the Director of
Pegging Pals, an on-line site for cribbage players from around the world for
more than a decade. She created many innovative tourneys such as Minis and Team
Royal Rumble that have brought joy to many. More recently she was given the
position of Shackmaster, administrating all cribbage activity as part of the gamershack.com. Joan was so respected by
the Gamer Shack owner that a permanent site has been created for her in
www.lovespeace.com. Through the years she contributed to all kinds of activity
